At Porterfield Baptist Church, located in the beautiful town of Little Hocking, Ohio, we are dedicated to loving and leading people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
We are committed to living out the values of the Gospel. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
We are committed to loving God and loving others, and to be known for our love for one another.
We strive to glorify God through worship that is rooted in scripture, and that draws us closer to Him.
We are called to serve our community and those in need, through both physical and spiritual acts of love and kindness.
We seek to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all people, and to share the gospel through both deed and word.
We prioritize the practice of discipling others in the faith, helping them to grow in their understanding of the Bible and their relationship with God.
We strive to be wise stewards of the resources God has given us, using them to meet the needs of the church and community.
We seek to foster unity in diversity, standing together as a church family united in our purpose of sharing God’s love.

We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion for the Lord Jesus our savior.
We believe that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God” by which we understand the whole Bible to be verbally inspired by the spirit of God. (Luke 24:27, 44; Acts 17:2, 3; II Tim. 3:16- 17; II Pet. 1:21).
We believe that the Godhead exists eternally as three Persons in one – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28:19, 20; Mark 12:29; John 1:1-4; II Cor. 13:14).
We believe that the eternal Son of God came into this world to manifest God’s love to men; fulfill prophecy; and redeem a lost world. In so doing, He was born of a virgin and received a human body, but was nonetheless sinless in nature. (John 1:18; 3:16; Luke 1:20-35; Heb. 4:15). We believe the Lord Jesus Christ took away the sin of mankind when He voluntarily gave himself on the Cross of Calvary. He bore the sin of sinners and became the Savior of those who accept Him as Lord. (Heb. 10:5-14; John 1:49; Romans 3:25, 26; I Peter 3:18). We further believe that He arose from the grave and conquered death in that same body, and that His resurrected body is a pattern of that body which, at the return of Christ, will be given to all resurrected believers. (John 20:20; Phil. 3:21) We believe that in His ascension, He was accepted of His Father and that His acceptance is ultimate assurance to all that believe that His redeeming work was perfectly, completely, and Divinely accomplished. (Heb.1:3).
We believe that no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless born again. We also believe that our salvation has been perfectly wrought alone by the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (I Peter 1:18-23; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 3:21-26).
We believe that after a believer’s baptism all regenerated persons of this congregation will not only be desirous of, but eligible for local church membership, because God has added them to the church. (Gal. 3: 26-28) (Acts 2:41, 42 & 47).
We believe that the Holy Spirit has existed in the world through all eternity, but that on the day Pentecost he united all believers to Christ in one body by indwelling all believers. (John 14:16, 17; 16:7-15; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 2:15-18; I Cor. 12:13; 6:19).
The ordinances of this Church are believer’s baptism (by immersion) and the Lord’s Supper. (Matt 26:26-29: Matthew 28:18- 20; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:17-20; I Corinthians 11:23-26; Acts 2:41, 42; Matt. 3:13-17; John 3:22-28).
We believe that Jesus Christ will come again in person, according to His own promise, to gather the Church unto Himself as His Bride, and that She will be forever with Her Lord. (John 14:1-4); Acts 1:11; Titus 2:13; John 21:23; Rom. 8:19-23; I Cor. 15: 20-28; Eph. 1:10-14
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27)
We submit to the teaching of Scripture that God’s design for sexual intimacy places it within the context of marriage between one man and one woman. Matthew 19:4-6; Eph. 5:31; Mark 10:6-9; Rom. 1:21-25
